A Very Nailsea Christmas in 2024
It’s finally here! While some supermarkets have been hard at work selling Christmas to you since September, this is the month where the festive season really takes hold of Nailsea. From lights and events to meals with friends and family, we’ve got some tips and tipples to make this year a special one.

The Christmas Lights
In case you missed it, the Christmas lights are on in and around the town centre! We flipped the switch on Friday 22nd November, illuminating the town with festivity and colour. These energy efficient lights are made from recycled plastic bottles – a double whammy for sustainability as we add some extra green to the festive season.
The light switch on event came with a number of fun experiences like the Christmas Dubs Parade and the Reindeer Hunt – find out more here. There’s more to come, so keep an eye out for more amazing events in Nailsea this Christmas.
eat:Christmas Festival
On Friday 7th December, Nailsea Town Council are proud to support eat:Festivals with a local event. This occasion aims to bring the community together, offering great experiences like:
- Festive food
- Warming drinks
- Stocking fillers
- Free kids activities
- Surprise appearances from some of the season’s biggest characters

Arts and Crafts Courses
Fancy showing off your creative side this year? Want to give a gift from the heart, instead of from Amazon’s recommended section? Then an arts and crafts session at No 65 High Street might be for you! Hurry while spaces last, as there are only six available per course.
There will be two courses in December, including:
December 4th: Neuro graphic art
December 18th: Cyanotype printing (an ancient Greek method of camera-less photography that can make some stunning silhouettes!)
More courses will be available from January onwards in 2025, so don’t worry if you miss out – there’ll be plenty more chances to come.

The Nailsea High Street is packed with great places to have a festive roast, grab some drinks with friends, get inspiration for your Christmas wishlist, and find great deals to cut down on costs.
Take the stress away with some of our great local venues. Whether you’re looking to have a meetup with friends, or for a relaxing time on the big day itself, there’s plenty of places to choose from. Here are some of the top options for a meal out in Nailsea this Christmas:
The Moorend Spout
The Moorend Spout offers a traditional venue with traditional food, offering a festive three course menu that’ll be around until December 31st – fit with classics, turkey, and all the trimmings.
The Old Farmhouse
The Old Farmhouse offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with plenty of space for all your friends and family. Their Festive Fayre hosts a great range of options, but hurry – it’s in high demand!
The Royal Oak
As part of the Greene King chain, our local Royal Oak is offering a fun set of festive-themed cocktails, drinks, and meals, with the Christmas menu already in action!
Coates House
Coates House offers a cosy atmosphere with high-class meals you can see being prepared live! They provide a great place for Christmas parties and gatherings, located in the heart of Nailsea.
The George at Backwell
The George is offering a luxurious Christmas experience in their farmhouse pub, offering a vibrant atmosphere with a set of menus to help suit your needs and taste.
Last Minute Gifts? We’ve Got You Sorted
Nailsea is home to a vibrant collection of shops and services, giving you everything you need for your day-to-day and your big Christmas shop. The High Street and Town Centre are full of great local stores and charity shops, so go out and find something special for that special someone.
Otherwise, we’re host to a range of different markets, bringing great local products straight to your doorstep. With different options available on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, you’re sure to find something that fits the bill.
A Celebration for the Whole Community
Don’t feel left out if Christmas isn’t your thing. Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or something else entirely, the festivities are open to all! This season is all about coming together as a community and celebrating everything that makes Nailsea special – not the least of which are the people that live here.
