Bench and plaque honouring Andrew Town founding member of The Friends of Trendlewood Park.

The Friends of Trendlewood Park (FoTP) is a voluntary group that manage Trendlewood Community Park in partnership with North Somerset Council (NSC). The FoTP have added a plaque honouring Andrew Town’s 20-year contribution to the work on Trendlewood Park to the bench near the Community Orchard, opposite Birdlip Close. To thank Andrew, the FoTP held an event on the 17 September 2024 when Andrew and his wife, Cath unveiled the bench and the Plaque. Ian MacFarlane, Parks and Open Spaces Officer and Jodie Smith, Park Ranger represented North Somerset Council (NSC) at the event as well as Cllr Terri Mazur from Nailsea Town Council.

Iain MacFarlane, Parks and Open Spaces Officer (NSC) thanked the volunteers and said “ The contribution of Volunteers to local parks and open spaces is invaluable. Thank you from NSC for your ongoing time and photos educating visitors to this wonderful park in the heart of Nailsea.”

Pat Gilbert, Chair of the Friends said “Andrew was one of the founding members of FoTP and has been a valuable committee member and a constant source of support and knowledge. In addition to working hard on the park, he has, among other things, contributed to the development of the Golden Valley meadows, overseen work to the pond and gully and delivered presentations of the group’s work at annual meetings. He continues to delight and educate the Friends with his regular amazing wildlife photos.”

The Friends are always looking for more volunteers and meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, 10am – 1pm at The Old Farmhouse Pub.
