Community Pride Event at the Ring O’ Bells Nailsea, a community celebration of diversity and inclusion.

The Ring O’ Bells pub in Nailsea is very proud to be co-hosting the first-ever Community Pride Event in Nailsea on Saturday 8th June 2024 from 12 to 6pm. The event is FREE and all are welcome.

This event is one of three Community Pride Events taking place across North Somerset. The two other events are being held Portishead on Sunday 23rd June 12-6pm at Portishead Youth Centre, Harbour Road Portishead, BS20 7DD, followed by Clevedon on Saturday 29th June from 12-6pm at the Old Inn, Walton Road, Clevedon BS21 6AE.

All three events are co-hosted by the North Somerset LGBT+ Forum, a registered charity which aims to support and connect the LGBT+ communities of the district, as well as their friends, families and allies.

These events coincide with Pride Month, June 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024, an annual celebration designed to recognise the influence of the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Month celebrates diversity and people’s right to live how they choose without discrimination; Pride Month promotes positivity and equal rights for all. Pride Month is celebrated every June to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. These were a series of equal rights demonstrations held by members of the LGBTQ+ community against oppression in response to violent police raids on LGBTQ+ establishments in New York in June 1969. This was considered a pivotal moment for LGBTQ+ civil rights. Pride Month is therefore celebrated in June to mark how far the movement has come and what still needs to be done to help ensure fair treatment for all without discrimination.

The Community Pride Event at the Ring O Bells will take place in the lovely pub, its garden and function room, featuring a number of exciting acts which will be confirmed shortly while final arrangements are being made.

• For the children there will be a range of activities and a bouncy castle

• There will also be a variety of artisan stalls from local and independent sellers

Ian Hammond, Nathan Hammond and Debbie Allen, Landlords and Landlady of the Ring O Bells say “This is the first-ever Pride event in Nailsea, and we want the event to grow year-on-year and become a bigger and bigger celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and Nailsea. We are passionate about making our pub a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and this event is our celebration of diversity and inclusion”
