Nailsea Skatefest 2024 date now set for Saturday, 13 July, but may be for the last time.
Organisers of the Nailsea Community Skate Park Festival are making great progress in planning for this years event, which celebrates the 21st occasion of the Skate Park Festival and will be at the traditional venue of the Millennium Park in Nailsea, on Saturday 13th July 2024, 1pm – 5pm.
However it does look as though under the current organising team this will be the last year, so we would like to make sure that it’s a fantastic success to celebrate all that has happened since its initial event back in 2003.
The event team feel as though it’s time to move over for perhaps a younger crew to take it on, and if there is anybody that would like to be involved or at least look at the potential of being involved in future years, please contact Phil Williams phil@christiansurfers.co.uk as he would be very pleased to share how the event is planned, and also involve them with the event as it is set up and run.
Founder of the event Phil Williams said ‘It’s been an incredible journey from the very first time we thought about holding a small scale skateboard event at the original skatepark, just after it was opened, and to see how the event has grown has been a real encouragement, with so many of the community involved. It’s also fair to say that without the history of Skate Park Festival, raising £119,000 that we had to do to get the new skate park built, would have been far far more difficult. I want to thank all of those who have faithfully given up their time to help myself as we have run this event, and very much hope that other people will now get alongside this, and turn it into something equally as exciting. Myself and the team are very proud of what has been achieved and want to say a huge thanks to other key organisations that have been involved from year one, especially Holy Trinity and Trendlewood churches, Nailsea Town Council (For always believing and supporting the event), Nailsea community trust, North Somerset Council and Christians together in Nailsea.
The skatepark continues to be a focus for youngsters and the not so young, to perform the sport they love in a healthy environment, and even though every now and again there are one or two issues at Park, it is still a massive resource for the town and surrounding area.
We want this date to be a day of celebration and look forward for as many of you as possible to come and join us’
Plans for the day, will include skateboard, scooter and BMX competitions (Numbers permitting), with stalls and activities to participate in, and of course, lots to eat and drink.
The Skate Park Festival are keen to highlight what goes on in Nailsea and the surrounding areas, for all those attending the festival. So, if you are an organisation and would like to show case what you do in the Nailsea district, please e-mail Adam at adam.griffin@htnailsea.ork.uk and you will be sent a booking form, and he can answer any questions.
Would you like to be involved in Sponsorship?
The event is run purely from local funding donations and takings on the day itself, both of which the Skateboard Festival team are extremely grateful for, so if you would be interested in becoming an official sponsor or would like to find out more details of the opportunities that exist, please contact Phil Williams phil@christiansurfers.co.uk
The Skate Festival team will update everyone as plans progress and are looking forward to celebrating all that has been achieved since the events conception.
