Older people in North Somerset who need extra support on a day-to-day basis could find a new housing development in Yatton becomes their perfect home.
North Somerset Council is working with Housing 21 to build Strawberry Gardens, an extra-care housing development with 60 two-bedroom apartments for over-55s. On-site communal facilities include a bistro café, residents lounge, hairdresser and scooter store.
At Strawberry Gardens, 30 of the apartments will be available for affordable rent through North Somerset Council’s HomeChoice and adult social care teams. The other 30 are available for shared ownership purchase, through Housing 21.
Extra-care housing offers more care and support than sheltered housing and is a real alternative to residential care. An on-site care team is available 24-hours-a-day for emergencies and providing everyday support.
Strawberry Gardens will open in spring 2020. The waiting list for rental at Strawberry Gardens is open. To apply, contact North Somerset Council’s Care Connect 01934 888 801. Visit www.n-somerset.gov.uk/housing-for-older-people for information on eligibility criteria.
