Summer in Nailsea 2024
Warm weather is finally here! Or it should have been, except the last few months of supposed summer have been a far cry away from the heat and sun we’ve come to expect in recent years. However, don’t let the damp or clouds dissuade you from a good time – there’s plenty to look forward to in Nailsea this year.
What are you excited about this summer? Let us know by getting in touch!
What will the weather in Nailsea look like in August?
The question on everyone’s mind – are we due for more of the same cold days and rainy weather?
According to AccuWeather, things are looking up! While the average temperature in July was around 19.5 degrees, it’s expected to increase by almost 2 whole degrees to 21.3 over the course of August!
The weather itself isn’t looking too shabby either – despite the intermittent showers, dotted with patches of cloud, there looks to be plenty of sunshine on its way with the weather picking up more towards the end of the month.
Northern Arctic winds blowing across the country have been the cause of the chill, but with the worst out of the way we can look forward to a little more sunshine and warmth in August.
Summer is already in full bloom!
On Saturday the 3rd of August, at Nailsea School, the Nailsea Horticultural Society will hold their summer show. This event included lots of fun activities, alongside educational classes for flowers, vegetables, handicrafts, preserves, and cakes! A great time for all who attended, this is definitely one to watch out for should any future events arise. You can keep up with the Society and their events by visiting their website.

Grand opening of the new Livro Lounge
The old library building in the Square is finally reopening as a “home-from-home” lounge, designed to bring food, drinks, games, and entertainment to all the people of Nailsea.
Opening on the 14th of August, at 23-24 Somerset Square, the Livro Lounge promises an accessible and inclusive space. It has provisions in place for disability access, children, dogs, and dietary requirements such as for gluten or vegan/vegetarian menus.
The Lounges have a history of over 2 decades of success, with the inaugural Lounge being opened in 2002 in Bristol. Since then they have expanded across England and Wales, delivering interesting venues and vibrant environments to communities everywhere, with the goal of “bringing out the soul of the site”. As such, we’re excited to welcome them into our town!
Nailsea Farmers Market August 17th
Get involved with this great community event! With the last count reaching almost 50 stalls for food, drinks, crafts, and other great local products, the Nailsea Farmers Market marks an occasion for wider community involvement and plenty of local participation.
There’s lots of parking nearby so you can come and go with ease, and the prevalence of great cafés in the area mean you’ll never be short of a resting spot.
With specialist stalls for flowers, organics, meat, and crafts like woodwork, textiles, knitting, and jewellery, there’s sure to be something around that’ll catch your eye. If not, just take the chance to get stuck in with the community spirit.
Walks in and around Nailsea
Walks are back in season, with the summer sun making many routes in and around Nailsea flourish. You don’t need to be a seasoned veteran of the local country trails – there are plenty of events that are accessible to all.
For example, there will be free Health Walks on the 5th, 12th, and 19th of August, starting from The Grove Sports and Social Club, BS48 4NQ. These events are open to all – no sign up required! Different durations and distances of walks are also available, from 30 to 60 minutes, catering to all.
If you’re looking for more of a challenge or a longer adventure, there’s plenty of other treks in the local area. From footpaths and town trails to nature reserves, lake walks, and more, there’s always something new to explore and discover.

The Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2024
Less than a 30-minute drive from Nailsea (assuming traffic and roadworks don’t get in the way) lies Ashton Court – the venue for the 46th annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Open from the 9th to the 11th of August, this even promises a fun time for the whole family, featuring impressive mass ascents, magical night glows, and an action-packed funfair.
